Summer music benefit brings the community together
at Soper Reese Theater

On Sunday, August 9, 2026, music lovers and conservation supporters filled the Soper Reese Community Theater in Lakeport for the Summer Music Benefit, an afternoon of live music in support of conservation efforts in Lake County.

The event's headliner, Trio Americana, took the stage at 2:00 PM and delivered a performance that moved effortlessly through jazz, gospel, folk, and American rhythmic traditions. The trio — Lincoln Andrews on bass, Matt Rothstein on soprano saxophone, and Gabriel Yanez on percussion — was joined by special guests, offering the audience more than a concert: a shared, communal experience built on the roots of American music.
True to the spirit of the event, Trio Americana wove a conservation theme throughout their set with thoughtfully chosen songs, including a rendition of "What a Wonderful World" that turned into a singalong, with the whole audience joining in.
​The afternoon's musical celebration was paired with a powerful reminder of why the community had gathered. Lake County Supervisor Brad Rasmussen took a moment to share words from Theodore Roosevelt on the moral duty of conservation:​
"Conservation is a great moral issue, for it involves the patriotic duty of ensuring the safety and continuance of the nation. Let me add that the health and vitality of our people are at least as well worth conserving as their forests, waters, lands and minerals, and in this great work the national government must bear a most important part.
Conservation means development as much as it does protection. I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us."

The Soper Reese Community Theater, located at 275 S Main St in Lakeport, once again proved to be the perfect intimate setting for an event that blended great music, great community spirit, and a great cause.
