Pete McGee
Pete is a 10 year member of the Board of Trustees, and Board
President since 2007. He has spent 30 plus years in natural
resources and outdoor education. His BA and MA are from the
University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio (Masters Degree in Science
Education). He has additional naturalist training from the
National Audubon Society, and from the Antioch Graduate School
program in outdoor leadership. Pete has also had mountaineering
training from Outward Bound.
Currently, Pete manages the 9,000 acre Montesol Ranch on Mt. St.
Helena. Prior to Montesol, he directed several different outdoor
education programs including a mountain based environmental
education program in the Chilean Andes. Pete also taught for the
Yosemite Institute and became the Field Studies Director for the
Institute. Pete was a national program director for the Student
Conservation Association, S.C.A., where he coordinated youth service
projects in U.S. national parks and in national parks in other
countries. In his job with S.C.A., Pete became a recipient of the
Presidential Take Pride in America Award.
As a hobby, Pete leads field trips for the local Sierra Club and
assists the occasional National Trip for the Sierra Club. He also
referees high school volleyball and basketball.
Pete is married to Veronica McGee and they have two daughters, Ali
and Jenny.
