He is a member of the Big Valley Ground Water Management
Commission, a director of the Lake County Farm Bureau, and a
member of the Clear Lake Horsemen's Association.
Keith explains why Lake
County is so important to him: "Life in Lake County has been very
special to me. Growing up my parents would take my brothers and me
on our own field trips throughout the county. They would identify
the birds, animals, insects, plants and trees. Today I still marvel
at all the natural beauty we have in Lake County. When I was about
seven years old my mother and I rode horses to Snow Mountain and
spent five days exploring the area. Having been there many times
before, she decided it was time I saw the mountain. We camped at
places like the Milk Ranch, Dark Hollow, and Blue Slide Lake. From
then on I have hiked the mountain, ridden horses there and still
enjoy it. My mother was also instrumental in getting Snow Mountain
established as a Wilderness Area.
"My grandmother
donated the land, which is now the Clear Lake State Park, to the
state as she wanted to preserve a part of Lake County for others to
enjoy. I spent many hours as a child exploring the area, from
climbing the rocks to just enjoying all the wildlife, and spent many
days with her at her cabin on the lake. Today it is one of the most
popular State Parks in California.
"As a Director of the
Lake County Land Trust I hope I am able to help preserve more of
Lake County for future generations so they will have the same
opportunity I have had to enjoy the wonderful outdoors."
