Jon Ambrose, A
Middletown resident, worked as a biologist for Georgia-Pacific in
Fort Bragg from 1989 - 1993 where he ensured land management
activities were in compliance with California Forest Practice Rules
and the State of California Endangered Species Act. Starting in 1994
he served as head biologist for GP, negotiating and developing
conservation strategies for sustained yields, and drafting
multi-species Habitat Conservation Plans.
Jon was responsible for
assessing potential impacts to wildlife and fisheries resources
associated with timber harvest activities. In this work, he
supervised between five and eight company biologists in GP's ongoing
monitoring and reporting efforts.
He now works as a regulatory
biologist with the National Marine Fisheries Service in Santa Rosa.
He currently reviews and develops a wide variety of projects to
ensure compliance with the Federal Endangered Species Act and also
works on restoration of instream habitats for listed salmonids in
Santa Cruz, Monterey, Santa Clara, and San Mateo Counties. He
participates with State, County, Federal, and non-governmental
agencies, as well as the public, on water and land management
issues.
The Land Trust is pleased to
have Jon aboard with his wealth of expertise in a wide variety of
land use issues concerning the biology and habitats of our Northern
California area.
