Pete McGee

Pete McGee, a 5-year member of the board of directors for the Lake County Land Trust, has a long career in both resource management and environmental education. With a BA and MA from the University of Dayton, in Dayton Ohio, (Masters in Science Education) he received his environmental education training from Antioch College, Outward Bound, and National Audubon Society. He also received Peace Corps Language Training.

Presently, Pete manages the 9,000-acre Montesol Ranch on Mt. St. Helena where his duties include oversight of the spring water operations, mountain top telecommunication sites, agriculture, homes, grounds, and natural resources. In his long career in resource management and environmental education, Pete worked as director for Mountain Mill House, was program director for the Student Conservation Association, supervised natural resource management agencies for national and international environmental youth service projects, directed instruction in natural sciences and coordinated back-country trips for the Yosemite Institute as the Field Studies Director, and served as National Coordinator for Environmental Education under the Chilean Department of Education. He also directed the Mountaineering Center in the Chilean Andes.

Pete is fluent in Spanish and is extremely interested in watershed management. He has participated in local stream bioassessment training which teaches people how to assess the health of streams.

Pete is married to Veronica and has two daughters, Ali and Jenny, who attend Middletown schools. He is active with Middletown Youth Basketball and is a member of the Middletown Community Methodist Church. He is the recipient of the Take Pride in America Award.
